March CrossFitter of the Month

Choosing our CrossFitter of the Month for March was again an easy task. Read on to learn Danielle (Dani) Littlefield.

  1. How did you hear about CrossFit NIKA? Two of my kids started going to BJJ (Warrior Defense) next door.
  2. What made you come in for a No Sweat Intro for the first time? My husband encouraged me to give it a try. I was apprehensive, but curious, as I am about all new things, and he gave me the push I needed to give it a go.
  3. Did you feel nervous or intimated after your No Sweat Intro? Not after, no. The intro was perfect for easing my nerves and answered all my questions. Took the apprehension away and ushered in excitement to get started.
  4. Favorite WOD or movement? My favorite WOD, Karen. It’s simple, but not easy. And if I do my best, she doesn’t ask for the manager.
  5. Tell us about a friend or friends you have made at NIKA. I have been very fortunate to make several salt of the earth friends here. To be honest, I haven’t met anyone here that wasn’t friendly/welcoming. I’m a stay-at-home mom by necessity, interacting with adults is not something I did regularly before joining Nika. Any day I get to come in is a great day, we have fun, we root for each other and celebrate our accomplishments. It’s truly amazing.
  6. Biggest accomplishment thus far? My greatest accomplishment so far, finding the ability to believe in myself and push my boundaries. Which would have never been possible without the coaches. Each has something different to offer; you just need to pay attention.
  7. Next goal? Goals are my jam! Having just one is hard to nail down, so three that come to mind are cleans, pull ups, and climbing the rope. Oh and lifting heavier, being more efficient in my WODs, and being ok with how I did in a WOD that day instead of picking it to pieces - my performance, not the WOD.
  8. How has CrossFit helped with your job, hobby, everyday life? CrossFit has helped me with my past time of doing mud runs, far surpassing any training I’ve done on my own. It’s also helped me care for my daughter who has muscular dystrophy.
  9. What is your spirit animal? I did a stupid amount of research, but my spirit animal is a penguin. As a spirit animal they are self conscious, meticulous, and creative. They don’t like the spotlight or confrontation. They’re never bored, animated, stable, yet flighty, and have a great compassion for others.
  10. Favorite song to workout to? Anything by Sublime, Green Day or Beastie Boys.
  11. What advice would you give others who are thinking of signing up for a No Sweat Intro? I say go for it! If you don’t like it, then find what feeds your souls. This feeds my soul and I’ve been so fortunate to find out more about myself than I thought possible. I have done things I never thought feasible, physically and mentally, and met remarkable people in the process. Also stay at the front of class in the beginning, especially if you’re competitive. The only person you’re competing against is you. When that sinks in, go where the fan is.
