September NIKA of the Month

September’s NIKA of the month was a tough decision, but Kristy came out as the clear NIKA from her hard work and bright light! Read on to learn more about Kristy!

  1. How did you hear about Nika? A friend of mine that is an athlete at Nika, Laura (Frenchy) highly recommended I try it out.
  2. What made you come in for a No Sweat Intro for the first time? My first visit actually started off in Barbell Bettys, this was an amazing 5 week course that really dug into strengthening with our very own coach, Skeeter!
  3. Did you feel nervous or intimated after your No Sweat Intro? Absolutely opposite of intimidated. I felt empowered and glad I made the first step to a life change that will now stick for the rest of my life!
  4. Favorite WOD or Movement? In general, I really enjoy power movements 🏋️. I never thought that I would be attempting snatches, but here I am and it’s so much fun. What I love most is I can modify any movement to where my ability of fitness is at and the coaches are right there to discuss options with me.
  5. Tell me about a friend or friends you have made at NIKA? Nika as a whole has been lovely. THANK YOU for being you Nika. Gotta give a shout out to my 5:30am crew though! And EVERY coach at Nika is dynamite.
  6. Greatest accomplishment so far? I am starting to hit those double unders, my strength has grown tremendously, and my body doesn’t ache like a newbie anymore 😁.
  7. Next goal? Short term, hit mostly all double unders in WODs. Long term, pull ups with no assistance.
  8. How has Nika helped with your job, hobby, everyday life? I can just move better as a whole. My back aches from sitting in a chair all day have subsided. Just daily life chores are much easier, caring a case of water, caring anything heavy actually. You weirdly enjoy picking up heavier things and know how to do it correctly without breaking your back.
  9. What is your Spirit Animal? Hippo
  10. Favorite Song to workout to? Any song that is up beat and has a vibe to it that gets me in the ME STRONG head space.
  11. What advice would you give others who are thinking about signing up for a No Sweat Intro? Do it, you will not regret it. I know it can look and sounds incredibly intimidating, but as soon as you walk through those doors you will quickly realize you just made the best decision.

Congrats, Kristy! Keep working and those dubs will be yours!
